- Ola Gen-3 scooters to be launched with improved efficiency and design.
- Simplified system with a single processor for enhanced performance.
- Pricing starts at Rs. 79,999, with variants ranging up to Rs. 1.59 lakh.
Ola Electric is gearing up for the launch of its much-anticipated Gen 3 electric scooters tomorrow. The company initially teased this new range in the middle of last year, building up excitement among enthusiasts and potential buyers.
While the specifics of the Gen 3 models remain limited, early indications suggest that these scooters will be significantly more efficient and lightweight compared to the current versions. One of the major changes is expected to be the redesigned battery structure.
The motor, battery, and electronics are now likely to be integrated into a single unit, which could lead to better performance and more streamlined design. A teaser image has shown an aluminium frame, but whether this makes it to the final production models remains to be seen. If it does, the Gen 3 battery will serve as a stressed member of the frame, which could further enhance its structural integrity.
Another notable improvement is the simplification of the system. Ola has managed to reduce the number of processors from 10 in the first-generation models and four in the second generation, down to just one processor in the Gen 3 platform. This change is expected to reduce wiring complexity and improve overall efficiency.

In terms of features, the Gen 3 will retain some of the popular elements from its predecessors, but it will also introduce some exciting updates. A new and improved TFT screen will be featured, accompanied by a highly updated software system.
While the teaser hinted at the inclusion of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), these features are expected to be rolled out in future updates rather than being available immediately at launch.
When it comes to pricing, the Gen 3 range will offer several variants. The entry-level model, the S1 X with a 2kWh battery, will be priced at Rs. 79,999. The most premium offering, the S1 Pro, will be available at Rs. 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the 4kWh and 3kWh variants will be priced at Rs. 1.5 lakh and Rs. 1.29 lakh, respectively. These prices hint at a broad range of options to cater to different buyer preferences and budgets.
