Yamaha R3 & MT-03 Now More Affordable
Yamaha India has surprised motorcycle enthusiasts by reducing the prices of its premium bikes, R3 and MT-03, by a massive ₹1.10 lakh. The company clarified that this is not a temporary discount but a strategic move to boost sales in the premium segment. The new pricing came into effect on February 1, 2025.
With the revised prices, the Yamaha R3 is now available for ₹3.60 lakh, while the MT-03 is priced at ₹3.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Both motorcycles are powered by a 321cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 41 HP and 29.5 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Why the Price Drop?
Despite their powerful performance and aggressive styling, the R3 and MT-03 struggled to gain traction in India due to their premium pricing. Yamaha faced high inventory levels, prompting this price revision to make these bikes more competitive.
The R3 is available in Icon Blue and Yamaha Black, while the MT-03 comes in Midnight Cyan and Midnight Black.

Market Impact & Competition
With this new pricing, the Yamaha R3 is now closer to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and is ₹40,000 cheaper than the Aprilia RS 457. Meanwhile, the MT-03 currently has no direct rival in the twin-cylinder streetfighter segment but will soon face competition from the Aprilia Tuono 457 and is positioned as an alternative to the KTM 390 Duke.
This move is expected to drive higher sales and attract budget-conscious performance bike enthusiasts in India.
