The Reserve Bank of India has released the updated list of bank holidays. Between August 25 and August 31, banks will remain closed on four different days across select states.

  • RBI issues holiday list for late August 2025
  • Four days of bank closures in different states
  • Online banking and ATM services will remain active

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that banks across the country will remain closed on four separate days between August 25 and August 31. These holidays vary from state to state, which makes it important for customers to check the updated list before visiting their local branch.

The first closure falls on August 25, when banks in Guwahati will remain shut to mark the death anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev, a revered saint and cultural icon.

A larger closure will be observed on August 27, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi. On this day, banks in major cities including Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Panaji will remain shut. However, banking services in other regions will function normally.

Following this, August 28 will also see bank closures in select locations. Bhubaneswar and Panaji branches will remain closed for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, while other states continue with regular working hours.

Finally, August 31 being a Sunday, all banks across India will remain closed as part of the weekly holiday schedule.

Despite these offline closures, customers need not worry about transactions. Online services such as net banking, mobile banking, and ATM facilities will remain fully operational during the holiday period. This ensures that essential payments and digital transactions can still be carried out without disruption.

With consecutive closures in multiple states, the RBI has advised customers to plan their banking activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
