With rising credit card frauds, including a ₹2.6 crore SBI scam, experts warn customers to stay alert. Knowing basic safety measures can protect you from financial loss and stress.

  • ₹2.6 crore SBI credit card scam exposed recently
  • Never share OTP, CVV, PIN, or passwords
  • Use secure networks and monitor transactions regularly

Credit card fraud cases are on the rise, and a recent scam has highlighted just how dangerous the situation has become. In one shocking incident, a group targeted SBI customers and managed to siphon off nearly ₹2.6 crore, affecting around 350 victims.

Authorities revealed that the scam involved call center employees, local agents, SIM card providers, and even cryptocurrency users. After a six-month investigation, police arrested 18 individuals linked to the racket. The case underscores the urgent need for credit card users to stay vigilant and follow safety protocols.

The most important rule is simple: never share sensitive details like OTPs, CVV numbers, PINs, or passwords with anyone. No bank representative will ever call or text asking for such information. If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from your bank, always verify it using the official website or customer care number.

Equally important is keeping track of your transactions. Activating instant alerts for purchases ensures that you are immediately notified of any unauthorized activity. If you notice anything unusual, you must report it without delay to both your bank and the police.

Digital safety also plays a crucial role. Experts strongly advise against using public Wi-Fi for banking transactions. Ensure your mobile apps are updated and only download them from trusted sources like Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. Clicking on suspicious links received via WhatsApp or email could expose you to fraudsters.

In case you suspect a scam, take immediate action—block your credit card, inform your bank, and file a complaint with the cybercrime portal. Quick response can minimize financial damage.

Ultimately, awareness is the first line of defense. By staying alert and following these simple steps, you can protect yourself from falling victim to the growing menace of credit card frauds.
