According to police sources, the main accused, Manjula, had recently come in contact with a young man looking for a bride. When he mentioned his search, she assured him that she could introduce him to a prospective bride at her friend’s house in Hebbal. Trusting her, the man agreed and visited the location.

At the house, a woman named Leelavathi was introduced as the potential bride. After a brief conversation, the host excused herself, leaving the two alone. Moments later, three of the accused—Geetha, Harish, and Venkatesh barged in, pretending to be police officers. They accused the victim of being involved in illegal activities and threatened to send him to jail. Fearing consequences, the terrified man transferred ₹50,000 via PhonePe to avoid further trouble.
