Home Guard Arrested for Extorting College Students in Bengaluru
A Bengaluru home guard allegedly posed as a crime branch officer, entered a student’s room, misbehaved, and extorted ₹5,000. Police arrested him after a student identified him from a past incident.

Bengaluru: A home guard has been arrested for allegedly barging into a student’s room and extorting money in the MS Ramaiah Nagar area. The accused, identified as Suresh Kumar (40), was taken into custody by Sadashivanagar police.
According to the investigation, Suresh, who was deployed at a police station, forcibly entered a women’s rental accommodation, misbehaved with the students, and allegedly extorted ₹5,000.

The incident took place around 1 AM on January 25. The accused reportedly introduced himself as a crime branch officer and claimed a complaint had been filed against the students. A Kerala-based BSc student, who lived there with her friends, was shocked by his sudden intrusion.

Coincidentally, when one of the students’ friends arrived at the scene, she recognized Suresh. She alleged that he had extorted money from her in the same locality six months ago. He had also scanned her phone and obtained the students’ contact details and address.
Sensing trouble, the student immediately called the police helpline. A Hoysala patrol team arrived promptly and took Suresh into custody, handing him over to the Sadashivanagar police for further action.
