GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and respiratory issues. The majority of the cases have been reported in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, raising concerns over potential causes. Health experts suspect that contaminated water sources might be a significant factor behind the outbreak. The Campylobacter jejuni bacterium, commonly found in polluted water and food, is believed to be the main trigger. The sudden onset of symptoms, including numbness, weakness, and paralysis, has made early detection crucial in controlling the spread.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging citizens to take precautionary measures, including consuming safe drinking water and maintaining proper hygiene to prevent further infections.
