Jalgaon Train Tragedy: ₹5 Lakh Compensation for Victims’ Families

Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the victims who lost their lives in the train accident in Jalgaon district. The unfortunate incident took place in the northern part of Maharashtra, where at least 12 people died and several others were injured.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. between the Mahaji and Pardhade stations near Pachora, which is approximately 400 km away from Mumbai. According to railway authorities, a chain was pulled to stop the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express, which caused panic among the passengers. Fearing a fire, several passengers exited the train and stood on the tracks. Tragically, they were struck by another train coming from the opposite direction.
In a video message from Davos, Switzerland, Fadnavis shared the details of the unfortunate accident, explaining that some passengers had jumped out of the train mistakenly believing there was a fire. Unfortunately, they ended up being hit by an oncoming train. The CM expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, and assured that the Maharashtra government would cover the medical expenses for the injured.

The bodies of the 12 victims were transported to a government hospital near Jalgaon, and authorities confirmed that between seven and eight passengers were injured in the crash. The state’s Minister Girish Mahajan has personally overseen the rescue operations and has been in communication with the Jalgaon district administration and police officers.
The tragic accident has left the region in shock, as the rescue operations continue and authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
