A devastating road accident occurred in Madhya Pradesh when a bus carrying pilgrims returning from the Kumbh Mela collided with a truck on the national highway in Jabalpur district.
The accident took place around 8:30 AM on Tuesday near Sihora town, about 65 km from the district headquarters. Seven people lost their lives on the spot, and several others sustained serious injuries.
Details of the Incident
The deceased have been identified as residents of Nacharam, Hyderabad. A group of 14 pilgrims had traveled from Nacharam to the Kumbh Mela in a mini-bus. After taking a holy dip, they were returning home when their bus crashed into a cement-laden truck in the Shirohi area of Jabalpur.
The victims have been identified as Naveen, Balakrishna, Santosh, Shashikanth, Ravi, and Anand, all from Raghavendra Nagar, Nacharam.
Investigation Underway
Initially, police assumed the victims were from Andhra Pradesh, as the mini-bus had an AP registration number. However, further investigation confirmed that they were residents of Nacharam, Telangana.
Upon receiving the accident report, the Jabalpur Collector and Superintendent of Police rushed to the scene and supervised the rescue operations. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that the truck was on the wrong side of the highway, leading to the collision. Jabalpur police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
