Editorial Reshaping at Kannada News Today Marks Focus on Regional Depth
Plans are underway to enter the television broadcasting space, with groundwork being laid for a regional Kannada-language news channel. While an official launch date remains undisclosed

Bengaluru | June 22, 2025: In a move reflecting a deeper regional shift in editorial priorities, Kannada News Today has added journalist Satish B Gudagenatti to its core editorial team. The decision is part of a broader strategy led by Satish Raj Goravigere, the platform’s founder, to reinforce local journalism and strengthen field-level reporting across Karnataka.
Gudagenatti, who contested the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections from Belagavi Rural, brings years of grassroots media involvement. He is currently associated with the Karnataka Journalists’ Union (KJU) as the district president of the Belagavi and also runs two Kannada-language daily newspapers — Belagavi Varadi and Sakshi Prabha, both active in northern Karnataka.
Apart from media leadership, Gudagenatti’s participation in community efforts through his NGO, Janapada Mattu Kreeda Sangha, has remained consistent. The organization works on initiatives related to rural youth development, traditional art forms and local sports, particularly in underserved areas.
Founder Satish Raj Goravigere noted that the editorial induction was aimed at sharpening the platform’s district-level input.
“Expanding the editorial team is essential for enhancing the quality of reporting in regions where representation has been limited,” he commented.
Since its inception in March 2019, Kannada News Today has reported on a range of issues — from local governance to digital media developments in Karnataka. The platform has also been recognized for introducing AI-based news anchors, making it among the first in the state to integrate automation into regional journalism workflows.
Plans are underway to enter the television broadcasting space, with groundwork being laid for a regional Kannada-language news channel. While an official launch date remains undisclosed, the preparations suggest a significant expansion in both scale and medium.
This update adds to a series of editorial shifts that have been visible across smaller digital newsrooms in India, reflecting a trend toward more localized, in-depth coverage.
