Karwar, Karnataka : A shocking burglary took place in Karwar’s Vijay Nagar area, where a house was ransacked in broad daylight. The house belonged to Smita Gopal Pawaskar, who was away when thieves broke the lock and made off with valuables.
The incident occurred between 7:30 AM on Saturday and 7:20 PM on Sunday when no one was home. The burglars targeted the bedroom locker, stealing 357 grams of gold, 72 grams of silver, and ₹10,000 in cash. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at ₹18.85 lakh.

Based on the complaint filed at Karwar City Police Station, officials have registered the case under sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the BNS Act. CCTV footage from the area shows a suspicious person wandering near the house before the burglary.
Police have urged the public to provide any information about the suspect seen in the CCTV images. They have released a helpline number for tip-offs and are actively investigating the case.
