Mysuru Tragedy: Woman Dies After Head and Arm Hit by Tippler Lorry While Hanging Out of Bus Window

In a heart-wrenching incident in Mysuru, a woman lost her life after she stuck her head and arm out of a bus window, only to be struck by a speeding tippler lorry. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday near Sindhuvalli village in Nanjangud Taluk.

The Details

The victim, Shivalingamma (58), was a resident of Alahalli village near Gundlupete. She was traveling aboard an ksrtc bus from Mysuru to Gundlupete, passing through Nanjangud. As the bus approached Sindhuvalli, Shivalingamma, for reasons still unclear, extended her head and arm outside the window.

At that precise moment, a tippler lorry speeding from behind grazed the bus, and in the process, hit Shivalingamma’s head and arm. The force of the impact severed both, causing her to fall onto the road while the bus continued on its route. Tragically, Shivalingamma passed away in her seat, with the horrified passengers witnessing the gruesome scene.

The Aftermath

The driver of the tippler lorry immediately fled the scene, leaving the passengers and others in utter shock. Upon hearing the commotion, the bus passengers reacted with fear and confusion. Local police, led by PSI Siddaraju from Nanjangud Traffic Police Station, arrived at the spot and conducted an investigation. The KSRTC bus was seized as part of the ongoing inquiry. Shivalingamma’s body was sent to KR Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A Reminder to Follow Safety Guidelines

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety warnings while traveling. Buses often display cautionary signs urging passengers not to stick their heads or hands out of windows, yet such tragic accidents continue to happen. Authorities are urging passengers to stay alert and follow safety rules, especially in busy or dangerous areas.

Shivalingamma’s untimely death highlights the potential dangers of a momentary lapse in judgment. It is crucial to remember that safety should always come first, whether while traveling on a bus, car, or any other mode of transport.
